This tsavorite baby weighs in at 2.01 carats of grassy, saturated green. So clear and vivid, it is a radiant, gem-quality garnet. Bright highlights, crystal clear... if only we could find more of these.
For they have a color similar to an emerald or a demantoid, are far less costly, and have a clarity rarely found in either (except in a stratospheric price range).
Fourteen old European cut diamonds of .54 carats in total are placed in a gently undulating frame. Their white and shimmering color of H-I, and the clarity of VS2-SI, impart nothing but a natural dazzle.
This Victorian-inspired ring is created in platinum at the top and 18k yellow gold for a classic and ensuring presence.
Note: Tsavorite (tsavolite) is a species or variety of green garnet. Looking every bit like an emerald, but with a hint more sunshine, the verdant tsavorite was introduced to North America in 1974 by Tiffany & Co.
The gem is mined in Tanzania and was named by Tiffany in honor of the Kenyon Tsavo River which flows through Tsavo National Park. The "newly discovered"? gem has many of the characteristics so prized by purveyors of beauty.
