For the sophisticated taste, we present a Raymond C. Yard brooch.
He was a prominent New York designer of women's jewelry. Long known as a jeweler worthy of collecting and prominently wearing, owning a piece of his earns you a flamboyant feather in your cap for your savvy.
Working his way up the ranks, he started in a menial position at Marcus & Co. From 1922 when he opened his first solo boutique, at the urgings of John D. Rockefeller no less, until his retirement in 1958, his jewelry has been and is worn by all manner of high society from Joan Crawford to the Vanderbilt's and naturally the Rockefellers.
Ultra-sleek, this rock crystal, onyx and diamond brooch typifies his style. Known for his brooches and his use of fine gemstones and proportioned designs, this is a rare treat.
An elongated clear rock crystal quartz is carved and set horizontally. Placed at each end is a geometric of three shaped onyx and five diamonds.
The top diamond and onyx area is platinum with a frame and brooch fittings of 14k gold.
For an extra bit of history, this comes with an original page from the New Yorker Magazine of 1941 showing a Raymond Yard advertisement highlighting sapphire and diamond jewelry.
