The age of white on white in dress and adornment is synonymous with the Edwardian period from the era associated with King Edward VII in England (1901 - 1914).
For evening finery, the sartorial rule was white for evening dress, with either platinum with diamonds or pearls.
Due to technological advancements, platinum was utilized in jewelry for ostensibly the first time. While this precious metal had been discovered prior, and some report its use, examples are nearly nil.
