At the apex of the predators and of its type in the jewelry world, this exquisite and weighty dragon brooch astounds.
In 18k yellow gold, and weighing in at a fierce 16 grams of gold, every angle, front or back is worthy of admiration.
Dating to circa 1890, it has it all. The dragon itself is skillfully modeled with feather wing, curled breast, intricate talons, and curled and defined tail.
No ordinary circular border, the frame is embellished with realistic leaves, and undulating waves.
In glorious matte gold, it is a little masterpiece of design and aesthetics.
A .35 carat old mine cut diamond blasts out the fiery sparkle with a color of H-I and clarity VS, but that reads like a G-H.
Just as noteworthy as the front, the reverse is intricately patterned and detailed. Its original "C" clasp and tube hinger remain.
