Alexandrites rank as so costly for their rarity, desirability, and those colors! Their allure is unmistakable for the magical, changeable hues that shift in various lighting situations.
Move from sunlight to white light, incandescent (old-fashioned light bulbs), and in between. And the shades and tones move in a chameleon-like fashion.
Oval and faceted, this is a .64 carat beauty. Many Alexandrites are in the dull brown to red range. This one is a captivating mint green in a number of sources of illumination.
But under incandsecent light, it appears as a whole new gemstone. It shifts to a mix of colors that include light yellow, red, yellow-brown, and more.
Sparkle factor, you bet. And to assist, it is surrounded by a scalloped halo of diamonds. Twenty-one old European cut diamonds make for .98 carat of glinting refraction.
Platinum curves around the brilliant cut diamonds and three diamonds line the shoulders. A low profile on the finger and voila, effortless wear.
