This convertible piece of jewelry functions in seven ways. It can be worn all together as a bracelet or without the added pear-shaped drop. Alternatively, it can be donned as a brooch as the center area unclasps. Add or remove the bottom dangle as desired. Finally, this can be suspended as a pendant with or without the teardrop as well.
For a "go with any ensemble," it is a magnificent and clever design, not to mention a dazzling dramatic presence all created in 18k yellow gold, amethysts, and diamonds.
Circa 1880, this rare Victorian radiant beauty starts off with a slinky, open-work bracelet section with a clasp at both ends.
The center section is adorned with two magnificent amethysts, one oval at 11.25 carats of color. With deep eggplant hues and vibrant lilac highlights, the teardrop amethyst weighs in at 6.3 carats.
Seventy-nine antique diamonds come to 3.05 carats adding their glam to the whole (H-J color, SI1-3 clarity). The two curved elements appear almost braided or in knot formation, imparting dynamic swoops around the east-west set oval amethyst.
On the reverse, hand engraving adorns the brooch fitting and a safety chain secures the bracelet. Weighty, beautifully constructed, and a joy to behold...
