Next, consider the source…that is the wearer of the jewelry. If gift giving, is he or she taller, medium or shorter? Is that person commanding or petite? Hair color and skin color, and even hair length can come into play if buying earrings. What types of jewelry do they often wear now? Big and bold, more medium in scale, or do they choose for themselves scaled down pieces from the restrained side of the spectrum. What metal color predominates? Is it yellow gold or white metals such as platinum or white gold?
Think color too! Note what palettes they choose in their wardrobe. Earthy, pale spring tones, or rich and saturated colors? Perhaps their gemstone choices follow their closet.
