Story

A black opal is defined by the hues present within its composition — the primary background colors can be deep blue, dark grey or even black. Scarce and most rare for all the opals, is the presence of the pigment of red. Crimson is the hue collectors seek and is one of the characteristics of a fine black opal. This gem provides an exotic and remarkable opal that flickers and displays nature with every twist and turn.

In three distinct swatches, the largest area of the gemstone exhibits a fiery and blazing red which flashes to hot pink. Adjacent is a patch of sea blue green and the smallest section pulsates with a multitude of colors, primarily canary yellow and parrot green. This stone is considered to be an opal of 2.4 carats with its matrix or part of the original stone on the reverse.

Set in platinum, the opal is accompanied on each side with a French cut rectangular diamond with a total weight for both of .16 carat (color F-G, clarity VS). Additionally, two single cut diamonds lend their beauty and glam for a total diamond weight of .20 carats for the ring. A landscape of mystery and color in a wearable adornment. Remember, opals often show best in natural sunlight.
