For instance, a ring changes into a bracelet, or in this case, a pendant into a bracelet. So cleverly designed, their dual life isn't evident when worn as one or the other.
A huge garnet cabochon radiates with a glow of deep wine red. At 22 by 16.5 mm in size, it is estimated at 18 carats. Its backing in yellow gold provides extra intensity. It is set in a repouss? 10k yellow gold surround with a scalloped shaped puffy deep exterior.
Within, folded up, rests the bracelet links. Open it like a locket, fold out the bracelet, press down the pendant fitting, close and you have a wrist adornment.
Each link is flat with pierced, open work designs and hand engraved details. Flowers, patterns and lines all harmonize within the rounded links.
Adorned with hand-engraved flowers and designs, the reverse of the locket is as striking as the front. From circa 1850, entirely handmade, it is a work of art.
