The best, the most magnificent, world renowned...superlatives are utilized so frequently that they become mere noise amid the barrage of descriptions.

Yet Burmese rubies remain at the undisputed apex of desirability. To quote the GIA's (Gemological Institute of American) website, "Rubies of Burmese origin have long been considered the finest quality in the world."

If these gemstones are not heat treated, the "must have" factor rises even further.

What about color? Pigeon's blood red ranks as another mark of the queen of all rubies. Usually characterized as a deep red with hints of purple, the coloration is distinct and intense. As if by magic, they light up with a neon red fluorescence when bathed in ultraviolet light.

Please note that 10 of the rubies are Burmese and two are Thai in origin. All are non-heat treated. One Thai ruby sits at the end with the female clasp and the second is located two in from that.

An array of antique diamonds graduate down each side from the largest, a pleasing central oval cut of .85 carats. With a total of 5.20 carats in all, their illuminating presence contrasts beautifully with the rich rubies.

Geometric links, a hallmark of the Art Deco period, are each studded with two diamonds in a diamond or pointed shape to add visual interest. Every section of the forty-six links is articulated to smooth perfection for a slinky, weighty feel.

Platinum is the medium of choice and the workmanship, needless to say, is superior.
