Eleven rose cuts are set closed backed and foiled beneath them.

This was a technique utilized long ago to maximize the reflective and refractive light when the stones had metal behind them. Most common in the 18th and 19th centuries, it fell out of favor once the characteristic open-backed style came into play.

Visually, the center looks the size of just under a 1 carat diamond. To its north and south, one bears the presence of a .50 carat and one of .40 carats. Eight more catch the light enhancing the shimmer.

In 18k rose gold, the total estimated weight for the ring rests at 1.65 (H-I color, SI1-3 clarity). Yet due to their flat undersides, their presence gleams like so much more.

Note the shank or band possesses an unusual and decorative concave channel.

Purchased from a long-existing antique shop in Austria.
