Cannetille gold work in tendrils of gold nestled in almandine mulberry-hued garnets. Very fine and scarce earrings with their original tops still intact, these are a joy to discover and wear.

Cannetille is a technique of jewelry making that creates tiny beehives, spirals and intricate work with fine wires of gold or silver. It was primarily used at the beginning of the 19th century when gold was scarce (given in by the people to fund the war efforts during the Napoleonic conflicts that raged during those years).
Cannetille looks so sumptuous yet is light and wearable. Jewelers no longer have the time or expertise to endeavor to master this consummate skill.
Shapes of 18k yellow gold encase three flat cut garnets in a teardrop shape, one of the more flattering shapes for a woman's profile. The gemstones range in size from 5 to 7 millimeters - all oval in shape. They are set within closed backed foiled settings. The top surmounts are delicate, almost fleur-de-lis style forms with later 15k ear wires.
