The Rococo period in England spanned the years from around 1740-1770.
The Victoria & Albert Museum states this design movement was "exceptionally ornamental and theatrical - a style without rules".
Jewelry and objects from this are scarce and we are exceptionally pleased to present this gold and bloodstone wearable locket or miniature box. It was likely a perfume holder and still holds the faintest of scents within.
However, no screen remains or appears to have been removed. All hand engraved, the 15k yellow gold forms the two sides of the seal, the clasp, the top and a tiny gold screw. The flip-up clasp holds a minute-sized diamond.
Sinuous and tactile, the bloodstone has been polished to a glassy sheen. It feels wonderful in the hand, sculptural, and perfect for holding as you would a talisman.
A ring at the top allows this to be suspended. An ultimate luxury.
