Carved gemstone flowers have been a specialty in Austria and Germany for many years.
Delicate jadeite and dyed chalcedony of an almost transparent lilac grey were hand carved into the shapes of a flower in bloom, a bud and sepal with stem, and a full leaf complete with tiny, serrated edges and realistic veins.
Fashioned from 18k white gold over yellow, the bottom of the stem is dotted with four diamonds as well as the center of the four-petaled flower. A total of .18 carats adds soft shimmer to the brooch.
From its hallmark, it can be determined that this was created in Austria for export for sale outside that country.
