Story
Similar to the Miraculous Medal, depicting the first apparition of the Blessed Mary to Catherine Laboure in 1830, it may also be known as the Medal of Our Lady of Graces.
The Blessed Virgin stands upon a snake or serpent, and from her outstretched hands light radiates. The serpent, representative of evil or Satan, Mary crushes with her faith.
On the reverse, also in similar coloration of enamel, is a robed Jesus with a halo, touching his heart that is wrapped in thorns.
Often on the reverse, this depiction of Mary on a Miraculous Medal is usually affiliated with different symbolism; a cross, an M, twelve stars, and a heart with thorns. In this case, the opposite side is different.
A large, ornate and gorgeous 10k yellow gold surround employs open filigree, curving gold, and a design replete with proportion and harmony.
