Story

Lyrical and sculptural, this ever-so-alluring bird motif brooch reminds us to be faithful and allow our aspirations to take flight.

The swallow bird has long represented faithfulness (they mate for life), both to others, and to ourselves. All of us can use a reminder to remain true to our ideals and our guiding principles.

From the firm of Osmun-Parker Mfg. Co, formerly of Newark, New Jersey, comes this outstanding Art Nouveau jewel. Entirely covered in tiny, natural saltwater pearls, its surface is dotted with various sizes of pearls. From just over 1 mm down to teeny tiny, the bird's wings are a textural lustrous surface. Outstretched, the characteristic swallow's forked tail stretched behind it.

Created in 14k, the pearls make a rich contrast to the sunny yellow gold. A minute ruby eye and gold beak mark the attention to detail of the talented artisans from over 120 years ago.

For versatility, it is both a brooch and a watch hanger. The hook at the back could be used to dangle charms or a pearl or gemstone of your choice.
