SUPERB VALUE - SPECIAL MARKDOWN!

n exceptional condition, this form showcases a classic example of an English ring created during the mid-eighteenth century.

At the center, a foiled almandine garnet ring is placed east west. It measures approximately 7 x 9 mm and is entirely encased from the sides (girdle) down in 18k yellow gold.

Note that the gemstone is faceted (polished) with a flat top and only eight minimal facets around the edge. Hues of plum purple and shades of peony pink emanate from within its depths. A clean, rub-over style mount displays 8 tiny “beads” of gold on the bezel near the angles.

An open work bridge on each of the shoulders transitions to a rose cut diamond set in unusually shaped silver elements. On the shank, the recessed design transitions to a shapely reeded band.
The reverse is worked with radiating engraved lines under the garnet.

This basket weave pattern can be seen throughout the century as well as in the 17th century. Earlier rings likely were emboldened with enamel, which then fell out of favor.

An elegant and resplendent early ring in near mint condition. This has an ideal scale on the hand and is very wearable.

Important Note: Due to its great age, this ring is not ideal for an engagement ring or daily wear ring. It should not be subjected to extended periods of immersion in liquids or water, harsh chemicals, or potentially damaging activities.
