Story
Diamonds and demantoid garnets fly your way in the guise of this antique Victorian barn swallow bird motif brooch and pendant.
Graceful and glittering, it was a popular motif in the Victorian era circa 1880. For the bird’s mate for life so have long been associated with fidelity and loyalty.
Beyond that, their joyful soaring presence, and lighting quick acrobatics along with their glossy colorful blue feathers, embody freedom and joy.
On the cusp of the change from the Victorian to the Edwardian eras, the bird is studded with white to the eye diamonds. Vivid grass green natural demantoid garnets accent the wing tips, shoulders, and line the edge of the back tail and tips. Tiny rubies dot each eye.
A screw on-off brooch fitting easily creates a versatile jewel. Ask us to add a pendant fitting if desired.
